Batkivshchyna party leader Yulia Tymoshenko is calling on President
Viktor Yanukovych and the Prosecutor General’s Office to open a criminal
investigation into the illegal printing of ballots in Kharkiv, Tymoshenko's official website reports.
"I demand that the country’s president open a criminal case and take responsibility for the fact of covering up the printing of fake ballots and protocols," she said.
At seven o’clock this morning, the Batkivshchyna party’s Kharkiv headquarters received a phone call from an employee of the Folio Plus printing company who said that the company is printing fake ballots for the upcoming local elections. "This person said that the printing of fake ballots is in full swing. They’re printing a whole set of duplicates that will be filled out and fake vote tally sheets will be written up in advance on the basis of these fake ballots," said Yulia Tymoshenko.
Representatives of Batkivshchyna drove to the printing plant, where they found the fake ballots. "They took what they could, cut and uncut ballots printed on large sheets of paper. It’s clear that Folio Plus does not have an official contract for printing ballots," said the party’s leader.
Yulia Tymoshenko also said that information will be given to Ukrainian and international election observers. "This information will be given today to all international information agencies and institutions – the Council of Europe and EU – because after such ‘sensations’ with these elections, they can’t be deemed fair, transparency, open and without fraud."
