President Viktor Yanukovych’s statement regarding interference by executive government bodies in the election process is cynical, says Yulia Tymoshenko, according to her official website.

"What’s going on in the country is appalling. Governors and local leaders are gathering school directors, media editors, business owners and civil servants and telling that either they support the Party of Regions or they’re bums. These are so-called exceptions. Where is the boundary of his cynicism?" Yulia Tymoshenko said during a press conference today in Kharkiv.

She noted that Viktor Yanukovych’s instructions to executive government officials to gather representatives of all political parties “and resolve all issues” are a violation of electoral law.

"This means that administrative resource is involved in elections. I want to remind Mr. Yanukovych that the law and Constitution directly forbid that administrative resource or any officials get involved in elections. And if they’re given orders to meet with parties and settle things – this is use of administrative resource."

Yulia Tymoshenko also said that in certain regions election commissions have already signed protocols with the election results.

"What fair elections can there be if today members of election commissions are starting to sign and stamp protocols? No votes have been cast, there are no ballots yet, and already they’re signing protocols? What’s going on?"
