Till 2010 end, the first stage of introduction of electronic customs services will be implemented, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service Stepan Deryvolkov informed, NRCU reported.

"On receipt of the relevant funds, we will be ready to put into exploitation the first stage till the year end," he said adding that electronic customs service means carrying out all customs clearance processes on the electronic basis.

According to Mr Deryvolkov, the first stage of the electronic customs service will include setting up computer database and the customs service programme, with all customs bodies having an access to it, including brokers engaged in customs clearance.

The Deputy Chairman noted that the aim of the electronic customs service implementation is simplification of the customs procedures, as well as minimization of human factor in the customs clearance.

Earlier, Head of the State Customs Service Ihor Kaletnik stated that introduction of electronic customs service is planned in Ukraine that will enable many economic entities to carry out customs clearance without leaving their office. According to him, the terms of the programme realization for reformation of the Ukrainian customs service is three to four years.
