"I am deeply interested that these elections were truly transparent,
democratic and that people felt that we live in a modern democratic
country," President Viktor Yanukovych told a briefing in Rivne, presidential press office reported.
"So today, I would like to raise the level of the
officials’ responsibility – those who are involved in these elections,
and say: if any violations or administrative pressure from the
government officials are reported – the least I will do is dismiss these
people. They must not prevent people from voting. They must not
interfere with the will of the people," he said.
The President
stressed that instead, under current legislation the officials are
required to create all the conditions so that the elections were
peaceful and transparent. The Head of State said that at present there
are some political forces that "have already lost or loosing credibility
of the Ukrainian people."
"Already now they are talking about
some frauds, in order to justify their low ratings to voters
afterwards," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President repeated, that through such adventurous actions these
political forces wish to deceive the society. "And they do it not only
inside the country but discredit it abroad: they travel to European
countries and tell lies about the state of affairs in Ukraine," Viktor
Yanukovych added.
These steps damage the image of our country,
he said. One thing is to care for one’s own political ambitions, and
quite another is to care for the future of the country and its citizens,
he added.
We will be bringing order in the country. We will
have order. The law will protect everyone. We shall remove the principle
of political expediency. Instead, the rule of law will prevail, Viktor
Yanukovych said.
The President also emphasized that he now
offers partnership and constructive work in favor of the state and its
interests to all the parties, regardless of the color.
