The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has disbursed the first portion of a USD 1.89 billion loan to Ukraine on a new stand-by arrangement, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Serhiy Tihipko told the press on Monday.

"The first disbursement of USD 1.89 billion hit the account," he informed, UKRINFORM reported.

The official said that of the total volume of the first tranche, USD 1 billion will go for financing the state budget deficit, and USD 0.89 billion - for forex and gold reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

According to Tihipko, the second tranche of the IMF loan Ukraine may receive in December this year when the program of cooperation with the Fund is properly fulfilled.
