"At times I’m a hopeless romantic when it comes to politics…When the election was over, for some reason I thought that obviously Yushchenko was equally troubled by what was going on in Ukraine and so I told him: "Let’s put an end to all this and change the situation so that we don’t have to be ashamed of the democratic forces before the world or Ukraine." He nodded his head and the next day I read that I was the biggest mistake of his life…I don’t think this is something that can be cured. I need to take off the rose-colored glasses and put an end to any thoughts on this issue," Yulia Tymoshenko said during a press conference in Khmelnytsky, according to BYuT press office.
According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the era of Viktor Yushchenko is over. "This president had more chances than any other president of our country to build a strong Ukraine," she said.
Nevertheless, Yulia Tymoshenko believes the true opposition forces must unite and put an end to all arguments and confrontation. "If an opposition leader publicly berates another opposition leader and not the government that is humiliating Ukraine, then this is not a true opposition. It’s been bought, and is no longer working for Ukraine but for those in power," she emphasized.
That said, Yulia Tymoshenko once against stressed that she is not claiming leadership of the united opposition, but trying to ensure smooth coordination between all opposition forces.
Yulia Tymoshenko also said that she’s not surprised by the statement by the head of the Kyiv city branch of Our Ukraine, Yuriy Yekhanurov, of their plans to form a coalition in parliament with the Party of Regions.
"For me this isn’t an opposition. For me these are people who essentially surrendered Ukraine and continue to do so," she said
