The new government has essentially brought Ukraine’s judicial system to complete collapse, claims Yulia Tymoshenko, according to BYuT press office.

"I think this is the end of the justice system in Ukraine. You can forget about there being courts in Ukraine," Yulia Tymoshenko said in an interview in Livyj Bereh, commenting on the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the law according to which decisions by the President, Parliament and High Council of Justice can only be appealed in the High Administrative Court of Ukraine.

Yulia Tymoshenko underscored that the law gives the High Council of Justice "which is comprised 2/3 of Yanukovych’s people (based on the president’s, parliament’s and prosecutor general’s quota for appointing members)" the right to quickly and without any fuss "get rid of" any judge who objects.

"It’s likely that in the next few days, several dozen judges of different levels will be dismissed as a sign and to intimidate others. And in the next few weeks the bone-breakers from the group working on judicial reform will dismiss a few others. They will allow the "independent" High Council of Justice the right to appoint the heads of all courts, including high specialized courts. This will naturally make them an obedient tool in the hands of Yanukovych. They plan to deny the Supreme Court the right to hear cases and only perform methodological function," Yulia Tymoshenko predicts.

"Important political and business cases will now be decided not by the courts, but by Yanukovych in his office in Mezhyhirya, on the basis of his scant education and Neanderthal instinct," said Yulia Tymoshenko.
