The opposition will not block the budget process, BYuT deputy Andriy Shevchenko said.

"We, more than anyone, want the budget to be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada quickly so that a government program can be introduced," he said.

However, according to him, the parliamentary opposition will insist on adherence to those budget parameters that the Party of Regions declared during the presidential election campaign. "We have announced those parameters that we will be monitoring in this budget. These are the promises that were made during the elections – social guarantees. We’re waiting for the budget and there won’t be any problems because of us," he said.

The lawmaker also noted that the redistribution of parliamentary committees can’t be considered a way for the opposition to block the budget process. "These aren’t childish games. The opposition needs these committees to perform very specific functions as a way of cautioning the government against lawless," said Andriy Shevchenko.
