People’s Deputy Oleh Liashko (BYuT) believes the Party of Regions doesn’t intend to fulfill the social obligations provided in the law on increasing social standards that they initiated, Tymoshenko's website reported.

"The leaders of the Party of Regions assume they’ve seized power, so there’s no need to care about those they cynically deceived over the past two years. So it’s no surprise that neither it’s author Papiyev nor the Party of Regions voted yesterday for the bill that would increased social assistance to the level of the subsistence minimum," Oleh Liashko said today in the Verkhovna Rada.

According to him, we can now expect that "the great economist Mykola Azarov, under the pretext of the reduced budget deficit, will refuse to implement the new law on social standards. The Party of Regions can only offer social assistance the value of one shoelace from its leader’s ostrich shoes."

On February 9, only 203 of the required 226 deputies voted in favor of the bill that would increase assistance to needy families to the level of the subsistence minimum (the bill was submitted by Party of Regions MP Mykhailo Papiyev). The Regions Party's deputies did not participate in the vote.
