The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a plan for the development of the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine that includes the construction by 2017 of a XVII century fortress, several windmills, and more than 10 churches from the XVI-XIX centuries that were destroyed for various reasons.

The National Academy of Sciences is to provide the government will a progress report every year by January 20.

The Cabinet has commissioned the National Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Kyiv City State Administration by December 2011 to develop and approve a general plan for the development of the museum.

In 2010 interested government bodies and agencies are to introduce changes to the Museum zone boundaries, issue documents and complete the state registration of rights to the Museum’s cultural relics and other property, including land, in order to stop the illegal use of land on its territory and zone of protection.

The government also plans in 2015 to reconstruct the museum’s infrastructural networks and by 2011 restore a number of architectural objects from the XVII-XIX centuries.

The National Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2010 should provide security for the museum with the help of MIA State Protection Service.

The government also commissioned the National Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Emergency Situations to ensure proper functioning of the museum’s fire service and implement fire safety measures.
