The World Bank has insisted on holding another round of checks on Ukraine's banking system, World Bank Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Martin Raiser said, National radio reported.

Checks are to be conducted in January 2010 and will last a few weeks. The checks could result in the allocation by the World Bank of another loan to support the country's financial sector. The World Bank has already checked the Ukrainian banking system in 2009. Following checks conducted in September, the bank provided a USD 400 million loan to Ukraine to develop its financial sector.
