The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has failed to abolish parliamentary immunity Tuesday. In fact, this painful to MPs question was set on another bureaucratic go.

The bill on amendments to the Constitution restricting parliamentary immunity was supported by only 206 MPs, with minimum 226 votes required for its adoption. The alternative bill, by the Party of Regions' Viktor Yanukovych and Oleksandr Lavrynovych, appeared to be more successful.  A total of 390 lawmakers, including the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction almost in full, voted for sending the bill on immunity of certain officials to the Constitutional Court. The bill proposes withdrawal of immunity not only from MPs , but also from the president and judges.
