The Verkhovna Rada has overridden the President's veto on the law on amendments to the legislation on Presidential election in Ukraine, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

325 out of 371 MPs registered in the session hall voted for this decision: 168 MPs from the Party of Regions, 153 MPs from the BYuT, 4 MPs - Our Ukraine – People's Self Defense, 0- CPU, 0 – Lytvyn bloc.

Before the voting deputy head of the President’s Secretariat Maryna Stavniychuk informed that Viktor Yushchenko had vetoed this law as it des not create effective mechanism for preparation and holding of Presidential election and it violated the Constitution.

According to her, Viktor Yushchenko considers that election legislation should be improved, but he does not agree with a range of the norms of the law he vetoed.

MPs did not support any of the President's proposals to this law.
