Within the framework of his working visit to Poltava region President Victor Yushchenko took part in the ceremony of opening of the National Sorochyntsi Fair in the village of Great Sorochyntsi, president's press office reported.
The President greeted fair's organizers, participants and guests. In his welcoming remarks he stressed that the fair has become a real national holiday, which clearly represents the creativity of folk artists.
He also expressed joy that the fair glorified in the works of Mykola Gogol and which ceased to exist in the 1920's is now restored as a national tradition.
