The International Financial Corporation (IFC - a part of the World Bank Group) is planning to double its investments in Ukraine in the new financial year, which started on July 1 2009, the IFC representative in Ukraine Olena Voloshyna has said, Kyiv Post reported.

"We are planning at least to double the volume of investments into Ukraine this financial year compared with the last year, when we provided financing to the tune of $192 million," she said in an interview with the Investgazeta Weekly.

The talks about the provision of financial aid are underway with three Ukrainian banks, which have already become the IFC clients, Voloshyna said

The IFC country representative also said that the corporation may co-finance the agency for managing troubled assets.

At the same time, around ten Ukrainian banks were denied financing because of their small size, regional concentration, captive status or refusal to fully disclose internal information, she said.
