Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych has said that the government's interference in church affairs is unacceptable, ForUm informs, referring to Kyiv Post.

"The current government is unacceptably interfering in the affairs of the church, politicizing church affairs, and is trying to tell believers in which church they should pray. In doing so, the government is causing a split in the country," the party's press service quoted Yanukovych as saying on Monday.

"We need calmness, peace and dialogue in the country. We should build the future of our state on this basis," he said.
