The Party of Regions Leader, who is on a working trip to Crimea, said on air of Kerch Broadcasting Company that he hopes for a victory in forthcoming presidential elections already in the first round, press service of the PR reported.
“Certainly, it is likely to happen. We hope that the first round will bring us victory”, he stated.
V. Yanukovych noted that this hope is backed by that “the people have clarity and certainty. There is no doubt that people have made their decisions already today” about the candidate for the presidency.
Answering the question whether the presidential elections could be held in parliament, V. Yanukovych marked that today there are no such conditions. “Today the country needs a strong people’s president... Only the president, who will receive the mandate of most people, can unite the country and lead it out of the crisis”, he underlined.
V. Yanukovych did not exclude at the same time that after stability is seen in the country, there could be conditions for president’s election in parliament.
