President Viktor Yushchenko has said he insists that parliament consider his draft of constitutional amendments, Kyiv Post reported.

"As president, I insist that my draft of amendments and supplements to the Constitution of Ukraine … be considered by parliament and sent to the Constitutional Court so that its legality is given a proper assessment," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Yuschenko said that the open discussion of constitutional amendments would be the "most honest action today."

He expressed hope that in June, the Venice Commission would issue its conclusions on his draft of constitutional amendments.

Yuschenko also pointed to recent talks held between the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the Regions Party on constitutional amendments. He said that in his opinion, the two political groups still intend to amend the country's main law.
