Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has proposed that the Coordination Council on Preparing for and Hosting Euro 2012 ask the Cabinet of Ministers to hold a meeting to discuss Ukraine's readiness for the event and project funding, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

The President announced this during a council meeting in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"The Coordination Council must address the cabinet with the initiative of holding a special meeting... where Euro 2012 readiness status and project funding will be discussed," the President said.

He said that to provide "rhythmic funding" for reconstruction and Euro 2012-related projects, officials need to involve the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine.

Yuschenko also said that the Euro 2012 programmed should be corrected.

"I think that one of the decisions of today's Coordination Council should be the urgent revision of the state Euro 2012 program," he said.

The President explained that the amendments must touch funding sources and introducing state guarantees on Euro 2012 project funding. According to him, there are agreements with the European Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank about such credits.
