Vice Prime
Minister of Ukraine Ivan Vasiunyk assured Ukraine will complete preparations to the
European Football Championship of 2012 in time, despite the world financial
downturn. He told the press before the Government’s sitting, Cabinet's press office reported.
Ivan
Vasiunyk recalled the UEFA experts would select four Ukrainian cities to host
the matches of the European Football Championship of 2012 in May of the current
year.
“Today Ukraine and Poland are readying for the Football
Championship of 2012 as equal partners. And it means four Ukrainian and four
Polish cities will be hosting the football championship of Europe,” Ivan Vasiunyk said.
With
regards to the statements of Polish Minister of Sport Mirosław
Drzewiecki that Poland can hold the championship in
all the six cities, Vice Prime Minister reminded that in the end of last year
he had had a meeting with the Minister in Kyiv and they had assured each other
in following a parity principle with regards to the number of cities from the
two states.
“Concerning
statements aired within recent times, I can just say Ukraine is a serious partner of the UEFA
and we are managing to fulfill all the liabilities without any external
recommendations,” Ivan Vasiunyk stressed.
The Vice
Premier convinced that Ukraine meets all the commitments to the
UEFA according to the schedule, in particular concerning building of stadiums
and gearing-up of the whole infrastructure.
“Don’t
worry, everything will be great, Ukraine is a reliable partner,” the Vice
Premier said.
