He said that yesterday in scope of the conference of the rating agency Fitch Ratings “Ukraine under conditions of world financial crisis”.
“I forecast that hryvnya will strengthen in the middle of 2009,” Savchenko said. According to him, the current hryvnya rate is an estimation of business and people of the possibility of the National Bank, government and power to resist challenges of the world financial crisis. For today this estimation is expressed at the level of 6,5-7 UAH./USD.
At that deputy chairman of the NBU expressed hope that in first quarter of 2009 dollar deficit in the world would decline, and one of the positive factors would be inflation decrease in Ukraine. NBU calls devaluation of hryvnya at level of 30-35% the corresponding one to devaluation of other national currencies.
