Naftogas to cooperate with NBU on currency purchase to pay off gas debt

Naftogas of Ukraine will hold negotiations with the National Bank of Ukraine in terms of holding operation of purchase of currency to pay off the gas debt.

Head of Naftogas of Ukraine’s Board Oleh Dubyna announced today, at a briefing. He emphasized the need to cooperate with the NBU emerged in connection with complex situation on the currency market.

“The complex situation with dollar exchange rate occurred, that’s why the gas being sold by this moment was considered at the rate of 5.05 and, unfortunately, as it soared, it proves impossible to buy currency in Ukraine. Yesterday we have placed 600 million hryvnyas at the stock exchange but we didn’t manage to buy currency. So, today it is the issue and we will tackle it with the NBU to buy the currency and to pay back the gas debt,” Oleh Dubyna underlined.
