Minister of Ukraine Mykola Onishchuk claims that President of Ukraine
Victor Yushchenko has right to issue a decree on dissolving the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ahead of schedule, as the year since the
election expired on September 30.
According to UNIAN, he claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.
According to M.Onishchuk, the current Verkhovna Rada was elected on September 30, 2007, which means that, regardless of the Central Electoral Committee’s ruling on registration of lawmakers, the year must be calculated namely since the moment of the “political fact of lawmakers election”.
“Under all conditions, this period expired on September 30, 2008. It means that, in fact, the President has opportunity to exercise his right to terminate authorities of the Verkhovna Rada ahead of schedule”, the Justice Minister said.
