According to the results of a poll of experts, carried out by Korrespondent magazine (dated September 13, 2008), some 60.7% of country residents would like to see new faces in the Ukrainian big politics.
Political scientists believe it to be a result of long-lasting inefficient quarrels between the country’s main politicians. “People do not see new leaders as yet, but the demand for new faces has finally formed in the society”, political scientist Andriy Yermolayev has claimed to the edition. “It indicates that people are tired with current idols”, he said.
According to the magazine, the future leader should announce about themselves as early as today. The political scientists, polled by Korrespondent, the best moment for it is the upcoming presidential election. In the course of the electoral campaign, politicians of new wave will be able to show that they are ready to work independently, without being the face of this or that financial or political group.
Experts are confident that well-educated independent people have favorable opportunities to move forward today.
According to political scientists, Anatoliy Hrytsneko, OU-PSD faction lawmaker and former Defense Minister of Ukraine, and Verkhovna Rada Speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk have the best potential and opportunities to become national leaders as of today.
So far only A.Hrytsenko has hinted of having presidential ambitions: “There is a joke: the more I talk with customs officials, the more I like traffic policemen. So, the more I’ve been watching the destructive activities of current pretenders for the post of President, and their absolute inadequacy to challenges and threats of Ukraine, the higher is the possibility that I will have to take part in the election campaign of the year 2010”, he said.
As for Arseniy Yatseniuk, he said to Korrespondent that he has been to much busy with problems of Rada to talk about his future as presidential contender.
