The governmental committee
on economic policy intends to consider the question on increase of Ukrainian
coal supply for the thermal power net in connection with the unplanned cutoff
of the second energy block of the Khmelnitsk atomic power plant.
Minister for coal industry
Viktor Poltavets said at the session of the Cabinet.
According to the Minister,
there is a possibility of raising of the rate of production, but it depends on
volumes and terms of supply. He also pointed to the necessity to adopt budget
amendments in order to increase financing of the coal industry by UAH 3.1
As reported, Ukraine is consuming additional 1.3 million
tons of coal because of the cutoff of the second energy block of the Khmelnitsk
atomic power plant, which is under repairing till October. To fulfill the plan
on accumulation of 4 million tons of coal for the thermal power net for the
heating season, it would be necessary to purchase 2.5 million tons abroad.
