Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, first vice Prime Minister Olexander Turchynov and People’s deputy Mykola Tomenko decided to refuse from the work in the Kyiv city Council, because it is clear that it is impossible to form the majority to the struggle against Leonid Chernovetsky. PM Yulia Tymoshenko stated in an interview with journalists on June 3.
“We took part in the elections in order to have chance for Kyiv residents to built honesty authority in the Kyiv Council and then it would be necessary to join the work of the government and the Kyiv Council, if we really had a mayor who could put an end with corruption and the majority which could struggle against this,” Tymoshenko said.
The Prime Minister said that the elections in the capital were held according to the corrupted plan and with the help of briberies. “When there is such situation then I, Turchynov and Tomenko, we are of no use there, where there is a mayor who personifies corruption and misuses, maybe he will gather a majority. That’s why we will not cover up these absolutely illegal actions by our presence,” Yulia Tymoshenko noted.
