President Viktor Yushchenko held a meeting with Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko. President's press office reports.

During the meeting officials dwelled on discussing three main subjects.

First, Prosecutor General reported to President on course of investigation of 17-year-old’s death in Donetsk region presumably caused by measles vaccine. Here Mr. Medvedko said that on May 29 criminal proceedings have been initiated against first deputy Minister for Health Mykola Prodanchuk, who had issued a permit on import of Indian measles vaccine without any evident threat of epidemic of the disease in Ukraine and without any prior research. Prosecutor General also said that additional examinations are currently being held to determine possibility of connection between the vaccination and Anton Tyshchenko’s death and stressed that it would be premature to make any conclusions before it is completed.

The second important issue the sides discussed was investigation of Viktor Yushchenko’s poisoning.

The last question brought up by President was the need to apply measures against uncontrolled selling of some drastic medications in Ukrainian pharmacies, which are freely available to teenagers and are often misused by them. Regarding that Viktor Yushchenko instructed Prosecutor General to hold inspections in responsible state departments and initiate termination of cases, when pharmacies are working without proper permits.
