The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine considers that celebration of the 225th anniversary of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation must take place on the objects of the RF Black Sea Fleet. Head of the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Vasyl Kyrylych stated.
He noted that the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is based on one of the territorial-geographic lots of Sevastopol and Sevastopol is not a base of the Black Sea Fleet.
“Celebration of the Black Sea Fleet anniversary must be held on the objects of the Black Sea Fleet,” Kyrylych said. “Wide, extensive move of military technics along the city is military parade and this is the ideological element,” he added.
The head of the Foreign Ministry’s press service noted that it is necessary to differentiate strictly the celebration of a certain anniversary of the RF Black Sea Fleet on the territory of Ukraine with celebrations in Sevastopol that have nothing in common.
The Day of the Black Sea Fleet is celebrated annually on May 13. This year the celebration events are planned to be held on May 11.
