The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine delivered a note of protest to the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation concerning the activities of the RF Black Sea Fleet, which tested new missiles on the territory of Ukraine without informing the Ukrainian side about that. The note was given to adviser of the Russian Embassy to Ukraine Vsevolod Loskutov
.As the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reports, on Tuesday 27 a missile was discovered at a Black Sea coast in Crimea near Alushta city.
“As it found out, on April 15, 2008 the investigation ship of the RF Black Sea Fleet held testings of the missile, during which it was lost,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry informs.
“The tests were not agreed with the Ukrainian side. At the same time, according to the Agreement of 1997 on status and condition of the RF Black Sea Fleet on the territory of Ukraine, the activities of fighting and operation preparation can be held only by agreement with competent organs of Ukraine,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry notes.
The Ukrainian side demands explanations from the Russian side concerning this incident and asks to undertake all necessary measures in order to escape such events in future.
