The negotiations between governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation were held on April 28 in Kyiv within the framework of the third session of the Committee on economic cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian Inter-State Commission. Cabinet's press service reports.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko considers the negotiations were successful and constructive. She disclosed this after the meeting with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Viktor Zubkov.

Yulia Tymoshenko expressed hope that very soon Governments of two countries would introduce into life all agreements achieved during the negotiations.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine told that in the course of the session of the Committee on economic cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian Inter-State Commission two key documents had been signed. In particular, the Protocol on producer’s cooperative which, according to her, clears the way for the resumption of production relations of two states.

Yulia Tymoshenko also noted that the Protocol on strategic cooperation according to 10 priority directions had been signed between governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. According to her, such strategic directions are provided for trade-economic cooperation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, taking into account norms and rules of the World Trade Organization.

Yulia Tymoshenko also reported that the establishment of strategic gas cooperation, including the signing of long-term strategic agreements on transit and supplies of the Russian gas to Ukraine, had been determined as priority direction of cooperation between Ukraine and Russia.

At the same time, according to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Governments of two countries agreed to stir up cooperation in nuclear energy, in particular, concerning the construction of new nuclear power plants and common nuclear fuel production.

Moreover, the sides agreed to implement common projects in the sphere of aircraft building envisaging integration of the Ukrainian and Russian aircraft building plants.

As Yulia Tymoshenko said, Governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation had also achieved agreements on cooperation in the Azov-Black Sea Basin, in particular, within the next few days work at common project on the construction of transport passage in the Kerch Strait to be launched.

In his turn Prime Minister of Russian Federation Viktor Zubkov emphasized on the positive dynamics of development of Ukraine-Russia relations. “Trade-economic ties are developing dynamically: over the last year trade turnover has reached 30 bn USD but our potentials are far-reaching,” Viktor Zubkov opined. He expressed his hope that collaboration with Yulia Tymoshenko would be successful. “We have a range of issues to settle and we will have completed it,” the Russian Premier said.

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation emphasized that Russian governmental delegation is extremely satisfied with outcomes of the negotiations.

“There is no sphere in which our countries wouldn’t agree on cooperation,” Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Viktor Zubkov said.
