The second round of negotiations on the creation of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union will take place in Brussels on April 23 - 25, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry press service reported.

Ukraine's delegation to the talks will be headed by Deputy Economy Minister Valeriy Piatnytskyi, and the European delegation by Head of the European Commission's General Directorate for Trade Ewa Sinowiec.

The negotiations will proceed at three workgroups: for trade in goods and services; company foundation, investments, traffic of capital and payments; as well as trade rules.

The delegations are planning to discuss free traffic of goods, particularly, commodity origin rules, promotion of commerce, customs issues, technical regulation, standards and correspondence evaluation proceedings, as well as sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

Provisions on the creation of a free trade zone are called to become a component part of the new base treaty between Ukraine and the European Union.

The negotiations on the creation of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union were officially opened by Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and European Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson during a meeting in Kyiv on February 18 this year. Cabinet's press service reports.
