President Viktor Yushchenko met today in Astana with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov.

Parties discussed bilateral cooperation between the countries especially in energy and humanitarian field, according to president's press office.

During the meeting Yushchenko said that Ukraine appreciates the effective dialogue between our countries. “We should maintain and develop a program nature of our mutual relations,” President Yushchenko said.

President also met today in Astana with the Chairman of the Majilis (Kazakh Parliament’s lower house) Aslan Musin.

During the meeting President Yushchenko informed Chairmen Musin about his talks with President Nazarbayev and said that he is satisfied “with absence of either political or economic problems in our bilateral relations”. “We have a great potential of mutual confidence, a great resource of mutual respect and openness,” Yushchenko said.

At the time on the meeting President Yushchenko also touched upon the subject of recognizing Holodomor 1932-1933 the genocide against Ukrainian nation. “We hope for understanding and support of Kazakh side in that question of principal importance for Ukraine,” Victor Yushchenko said.
