The reduction in gas supplies will not affect gas supplies to either Ukrainian or EU consumers, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan said Monday, ForUm reports referring to Cabinet press office.

On Monday Russian gas monopoly Gazprom informed the affiliate company of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Ukrtransgaz, about cut of gas supplies to Ukraine by 30 million cubic meters per day. Gazprom earlier stated it will cut gas supplies to Ukraine by 25 percent  of 9 a.m. March 3 unless Ukraine's debt is settled. On February 29 Gazprom's official representative Sergei Kupriyanov said that Ukraine has not fully settled the debt for the gas supplied in 2007.

Last week Naftogaz said it has fully paid off last year's debt to UkrGaz-Energo, which sells imported gas to Ukraine, a statement, which RosUkrEnergo, the monopoly exporter of gas to Ukraine, denied.
