President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko stresses that Ukraine’s joining NATO has no threat to Russia. He stated on Thursday in Moscow in an interview with the Russian newspaper "Time for News".

Yushchenko has noted that in this case we speak about the right of any country to decide independently how it will ensure the policy of its safety.

As earlier reported, on February 12 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at the press conference in Moscow confirmed fears of Russia concerning possible Ukraine’s joining NATO, although, he stated that this was the sovereign right of Ukraine.

Putin emphasized that Russia had no right to interfere in the inner situation of Ukraine, but at the same time Russia paid attention of Ukraine that such restrictions of the sovereignty could led to definite consequences.

“It's frightening not just to talk about this, but even to think about, that in response to such deployment, the possibility of such deployments - and one can't theoretically exclude these deployments - that Russia will have to point its warheads at Ukrainian territory," Putin said.
