Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Oleksandr Motsyk has initiated a debate in Warsaw concerning the need to simplify border-crossing procedures for inhabitants of the two countries' border areas. The Ukrainian diplomat has met with Head of the Polish Government's Chancellery Tomasz Arabski. Government's press service reports.

Motsyk expressed a concern of the Ukrainian side about the situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border following Poland's accession to the Schengen zone. He stressed the need to speedily conclude and implement a bipartite Agreement on simplified border crossing for inhabitants of the two countries' border areas. The Ambassador also called for looking into the possibility of resuming joint border and customs controls and solving other urgent issues related to the Polish-Ukrainian border.

The Head of the Polish Government's Chancellery confirmed the evidence of clear political will of the government to settle the issues emerging on the border with Ukraine. He expressed a conviction that the agreement in question will be signed in the nearest future.
