Decision on Ukraine’s joining Action plan concerning membership in NATO does not violate the Constitution and does not contradict intention to hold National referendum concerning Ukraine accession to NATO. Foreign Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko told journalists today in the Cabinet, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
“When now somebody says that letter signed by three leaders of Ukraine is a violation of the Constitution it is absolutely lie. The matter concerns new stage of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO. If the matter concerns Ukraine’s accession to NATO, heads of Ukraine will consult the people,” Ohryzko said.
According to Ohryzko, there is no word that Ukraine applies for joining NATO in the letter signed by Viktor Yushchenko, Yulia Tymoshenko and Arseniy Yatsenyuk yesterday.
Party of Regions stated that signing pf joint letter of President, PM and VRU chairman on possible joining of Ukraine to Action plan on Ukraine’s accession to NATO shows again that current power violates the Constitution. According to PR, decision on accession to NATO must be taken by the people.
