The Agrarian Policy Ministry means to submit a draft resolution on authorization of the export of grain for December 19 Governemnt's session, Ukrainian Agrarian Policy Minister Yuriy Melnyk said. Cabinet's press service reports.
According to the Minister, the resolution provides for lifting ban since the resolution is adopted. He promised the resolution will be adopted by January 1, 2008.
However, according to President of the Ukrainian Grain Association Volodymyr Klymenko, the demand of Ukrainian bakers on introduction of export duty for grain will not prevent bread from the price rise and will strike grain producers.
According to him, if the Government doesn't authorizes grain export from Ukraine by the end of the current marketing year (July 2007 - June 2008), grain transition stock by the beginning of the new season will reach some 10 million tons, which may turn to be a "disaster for grain producers", as in May elevators should be empty and ready for new grain crop, which may reach 38-40 million tons next year.
The government has introduced grain export quotas in the amount of 1.2 million tons, under which grain export will be possible since January 1, 2008.
