Today Ukrainians infected with HIV/AIDS are going to hold a protest action “Bureaucrats, clean ears!” The chairman of Coordination council of Ukrainian net of people infected with HIV/AIDS Volodymyr Zhovtyak said that yesterday.
“We want to draw the attention of society and government to problems of HIV infected people. We want the government listen to demands of such people,” Zhovtyak said.
According to him, the main demands of HIV-positive people are adequate financing of programs on HIV/AIDS counteractions, improvement of system of state purchases of antivirus medicines and overcoming corruption in this sphere and also implementation of substitutive therapy by methadone.
The action will take place today near buildings of Cabinet, President’s Secretariat, Health Ministry, Interior Ministry and SBU. Officials who will go out of these building will be granted cotton buds.
According to data of European bureau of world health organization, now there are in total about 400 thousand of HIV-positive persons in Ukraine.
