President Viktor Yushchenko and his Israeli counterpart, Shimon Peres, signed a Joint deceleration to develop Ukraine’s partnership and friendship with Israel in Jerusalem on Wednesday, president's press office reported.

Yushchenko described Ukraine’s relations with Israel as “strategic.” “We see a friend and our partner in the State of Israel in all the issues concerning regional and planetary development,” he said and added that both countries would have a “common future.”

Peres praised today’s meeting with the Ukrainian leader and said they had discussed many issues which “can be resolved through dialogue.” He expressed confidence Yushchenko would reach an understanding on how to develop bilateral relations during his meetings with Israel’s political leaders. “I hope the future of our relations will be wonderful,” he said.

Ukraine and Israel on Wednesday also signed a memorandum on Euro 2012 cooperation.
