President Viktor Yushchenko on Friday chaired a meeting on Ukraine’s WTO accession.

Deputy Economy Minister Valeriy Pyatnytsky, who leads the country’s delegation in WTO talks, said Ukraine must complete negotiations with Kyrgyzstan, agree on its membership obligations and draft a final report on its accession with the WTO secretariat and pass necessary laws for this after consultations with other members of the organization. He added that these amendments could be adopted and the WTO Accession Agreement ratified simultaneously, president's press office reported.

Pyatnytsky said Ukraine should also equalize its railroad transportation fees and resolve the issue of genetically modified products.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mykola Azarov, Foreign Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, First Deputy Transportation and Communications Minister Volodymyr Korniyenko, Agricultural Policy Minister Yuriy Melnyk, Industrial Policy Minister Anatoly Holovko and Head of the State Consumer Standards Center Oleksandr Shnypko were present at the meeting.
