The prolongation of the agreement on the Black Sea fleet of Russian federation stay on the territory of Ukraine is not foreseen by the Constitution of our State. Minister of Defense Anatoliy Hrytsenko told journalists on Tuesday.
“I think that the Government should follow the laws and the Constitution of Ukraine. It is clearly determined in the Constitution of Ukraine that the constant location of foreign troops on the territory of Ukraine is forbidden,” Hrytsenko emphasized.
He has noted that there is only one exception in the transition regulations for the Black Sea fleet of the Russian Federation according to the agreements, signed in 1997.
“In the basic agreements the term of stay of the Black Sea fleet on the territory of Ukraine expires in 2017.
As earlier reported, Minister of Transport claims about the possibility “to extend stay of the Black Sea fleet of the RF in Sevastopil”, in case the President, supporting this question, is elected at the next presidential elections.
