Prime Minister of Portugal Jose Socrates is glad that Ukraine and the EU managed to strengthen cooperation. He said that today in scope of the XI “Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
“This working summit is hard and comprehensive. We managed to consider all spheres of our cooperation,” he said.
According to Portuguese PM, the most important we have achieved during this summit is a compromise between two sides “concerning enhanced agreement” between the EU and Ukraine that will be a new phase of cooperation.
In turn, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso noted that relations of Ukraine and the EU are fixed and determined by many agreements. “Despite those difficulties Ukraine suffered several last months, we have positive results of negotiations. Next round of negotiations will take place in October,” he informed.
According to Barroso, the EC always supported Ukraine’s accedence to the WTO. “I hope it will happen soon,” he said.
