The press service of the Party of Regions claims that 300 votes of the People’s deputies are necessary in order to introduce changes in to the Constitution of Ukraine.
As the statement says, “Head of the State, President Viktor Yushchenko, who must be a guarantor of the Constitution, shows lack of knowledge of this document”.
“In his recent statement Yushchenko demonstrated his real outrageous legal lack of knowledge, claiming that for the draft bill adoption, only 226 votes of the People’s deputies are needed,” the press service notes.
As the statement says, “really according to the Main law, 300 votes of the People’s deputies are needed in order to fulfill this procedure”.
“If it were really so, as the President tries to convince all of us, the country would have got the status of Russian language as the second Sate language”.
As earlier reported, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko said on September 6 that an initiative of the Party of Regions concerning referendum on Russian language status and NATO broke the acting order of changes introduction in to the Constitution of Ukraine.
