The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must hold the session and introduce necessary changes into the Constitution of Ukraine in order to cancel People’s deputies’ immunity. Chairman of the VRU of the fifth convocation Olexander Moroz stated, parliament’s press office reports.
“The best way to solve the far-fetched problem of official’s immunity cancellation is the adoption of a draft bill on introduction changes into the Constitution,” he said.
“There are no other ways,” he noted.
According to him, a draft bill with a corresponding content was registered long ago in the VRU, and socialists, communists, and the majority of the Party of Regions were initiators of this document
As earlier reported, Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych had proposed to assemble the VRU session before the parliamentary elections and cancel immunity, as well as all benefits, of the People’s deputies, members of the Government, the President, and judges.
