President Viktor Yushchenko on Wednesday held talks with Bavaria’s Minister-President Edmund Stoiber. The two leaders spoke about how to develop Ukraine’s ties with Bavaria and the European Union, president's press office reported.

Yushchenko described his country’s partnership with Bavaria as dynamic. “We have great capabilities for enhancing our cooperation to implement large-scale economic projects in many areas,” he said.

The Ukrainian leader said his country’s EU integration was a “strategic issue for us,” thanking Germany for promoting Ukraine’s bid to join the European Union while holding the rotating EU presidency in the first half of 2007.

Yushchenko and Stoiber also spoke about preparations for Euro 2012. The President said Ukraine was interested to learn how Germany had hosted last year’s FIFA World Cup finals.
