President Viktor Yushchenko has opened a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council in Crimea, President’s press office informs.

Its participants – Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, Deputy Prime Minister Olexander Kuzmuk, Industry Minister Anatoly Holovko, Economy Minister Anatoly Kinakh, Interior Minister Mykhaylo Korniyenko (acting), and Valeriy Halatey, head of the State Guard Directorate – are expected to speak about domestic issues, especially how to develop Ukraine’s defense industry and ensure that early parliamentary elections on September 30 are held in a democratic and transparent manner.

The leaders also plan to discuss Monday’s accident in the Lviv region and its aftermath.
