The General Committee on Political Affairs and Security of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution on banning cluster bombs. The members of the Committee underlined the importance of the resolution and spoke for adoption of a similar document by parliaments of all OSCE PA member countries, representative of the Verkhova Rada's press service Oksana Stepashkina told.

The Parliamentary Assembly emphasized the serious humanitarian consequences of cluster bombs' use for civilian population. The OSCE parliamentarians are aware of the threat posed by the ordnance that has remained undetonated for many years, especially due to its similarity to toys.

The Assembly urged the OSCE participating countries to adopt legislation on banning the use, production, transfer and accumulation of cluster ordnance stocks as well as to stimulate the launch of a global campaign to ban cluster bombs internationally. The Cabinet’s press office informs.
