The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that the distributors releasing film copies with poor dubbing into the Ukrainian language will not be issued distribution licenses, Cabinet’s press office informs.

In view of the spectators' increasing complaints of the poor film dubbing into Ukrainian lately, the Ministry of Culture decided to invite the expert council in charge of license issuance specialists of the Literature Institute of the National Academy of Sciences. They will assess the level of the Ukrainian translation for the dubbing of films.

A Memorandum on Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, distributing companies, and film screeners was signed in January this year. According to it, distributing companies are obliged, from 1 February till the end of 2007, to bring the number of copies of foreign films dubbed or subtitled in Ukrainian up to 50 percent of the entire number of film copies of every title imported to the territory of Ukraine. The quantity of foreign films for children dubbed into Ukrainian is to reach 100 percent by 31 December 2007.
