Ivan Plyushch, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, on Tuesday said plans to establish GUAM peacekeeping troops was “another step to boostdaily cooperation between GUAM member states…," President's press office repoted
“This force will take part in peacekeeping operations, both military and law enforcement. It will only be used in line with laws of the participating states and requirements of the OSCE and UNO,” he said.
Plyushch said that these plans had been discussed by experts and were aimed at resolving frozen and potential conflicts in GUAM member states.
“The peacekeeping units will work, respecting the national interests of GUAM member states and ensure that the organization’s projects are implemented securely. Its results will benefit the citizens of each participating state.”
