The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko has dismissed the General Prosecutor Svyatoslav Piskun. The NSDC secretary Ivan Plyushch informed at the session of the GPO. The Prosecutor of Crimea Republic Viktor Shemchuk is appointed acting General Prosecutor. Plyushch noted that the President’s decree on Piskun dismissal concerns that Piskun combined Prosecutor’s post with duties of the people’s deputy. Plyushch noted the President’s decree is obligatory to be fulfilled. Piskun considers President’s decrees illegal and left the session.

As a reminder, Piskun was dismissed and restored several times from General Prosecutor post. Last time the Shevchenko court made a decision to restore Svyatoslav Piskun and in late April of the current year the President restored Piskun by his decree.
